Do I Need Care?

Most seniors will deny that they require some type of care or assistance until a crisis situation develops. Giving up any degree of independence goes against human nature. The more active and vital a person has been throughout their life, the more difficult this realization is.

Seniority Lifecare’s mission is to provide an environment where a senior can remain at home, exercising as much independence and retaining as much dignity as possible. By selecting caregivers who are companions first, we are able to take much of the “sting” out of the process.

Many of us have probably said, at one time or another, “What I wouldn’t give to have a chauffeur or a personal assistant!” However, when the time comes that a senior should no longer drive, or can no longer take care of many of life’s daily tasks, this wish is easily forgotten. Seniority Lifecare at Home can provide that chauffeur or personal assistant at a surprisingly reasonable cost.

There are numerous warning signs that a senior may be in danger of deteriorating health, due to neglect of daily activities, physical injury due to loss of balance and stability, or a combination of both. Some of these signs are:

  • Personality changes including irritability and sudden mood changes
  • Loss of interest in activities once enjoyed
  • Memory loss, difficulty concentrating, confusion, poor judgment
  • Reluctance to socialize
  • Persistent fatigue or loss of energy
  • Diminished driving skills, recent accidents, near-misses
  • Difficulty walking, unsteady when standing, recent falls
  • Mishandled medications
  • Loss of appetite, changes in eating and cooking habits
  • Spoiled or outdated food in the house, little nutritious food in the house
  • Poor grooming and personal habits, soiled clothing and bedding
  • Poor housekeeping and unsafe conditions
  • Unopened mail, past due bills, mishandled finances
